My name is Carmen Cox. Born in Akron, Ohio, I possess a great deal of love for the openness of the Midwest, but have also enjoyed living in bustling New York City with my husband Clay and dog Kona for almost two years. Currently, I have a grand ol' time assisting the events team as a volunteer at Mediabistro.com conferences, parties, and educational panels for media professionals. When I'm not hanging with the folks at Mediabistro.com, I'm working on my blog Black Hair Brown Skin which is a resource for hair care and beauty for women of color. I'm also working on a blog called The Media Spot. Whatever I'm doing though, I am usually listening to music on my phone, in my home, or even in my head.
Prior to coming to New York City, I graduated from Syracuse University in 2005 with a degree in Communications (minor in Music Industry). As an undergraduate, I developed a passion for broadcast media as the radio personality "Caramel" on Syracuse's 89.1 WJPZ-FM. Upon graduation, I enrolled in graduate studies in Syracuse University's TV, Radio, Film program and completed a nearly yearlong internship at Clear Channel Radio's 106.9 WPHR-FM.
I'm a smart lady, a tough cookie, and my mottos when working are "Get It DONE!" and "Anything worth doing is worth doing WELL." I'm pretty positive that having a person like me around would be nothing short of awesome for you. If you agree, please contact me! Thanks for visiting!
